Sunny February :-)

Well,
what a fantastic week we are having! the weather is brill at the minute and some good birds appearing in the area again :-)
Started off with a lovely visit to Red Wharf Bay and the Snow Buntings didnt let me down, brill views and I'm sure they're getting used to the cameras as they weren't fazed at all.

Then yesterday it was a visit to Llyn Penrhyn and i wasn't disappointed , all the usual suspects were enjoy the sun on the calmest water ive seen there in ages. A walk to the far side of the lake proved worth while as i was treated to brilliant scope views of a female Marsh Harrier quartering over the reedbeds. Beautiful to watch but gutted as it stayed to far for a decent pic but below is a record shot.

After this i moved on to the Alaw Estuary alot of the usual suspects highlight for me tho was a lovely female Merlin but again another distant view so very poor pic :-(

A quick visit to Cae Glas proved enjoyable with lovely views of Long Tailed Tits and all the usual suspects for the area.

Today was another early finish for me :-) so with the report of a Black Redstart at Point Lynas it was a must for a visit. The weather was again beautiful , alot of birds around nice views of Peregrine, Chough and Rock Pipits, but the walk up to the point proved unsuccessful no sign of the Black Redstart :-( , BUT on the return walk I was made up to spot it in the field on the left in between the last house and the lighthouse. I watched it for some time through the scope and sods law as i switched my eyes to the camera it dissappeared :-(
i walked around the said field but no sign, so off home for me . Made up to see it but gutted that i didnt have a chance for a pic even a record shot would of been nice and as i was thinking this i looked up and it was on the top of the stone wall behind the last house so camera was out and i managed to get a few shots as it flew between the wall and the roof of the house, so i left in the end with a smile on my face, happy days!

So this is my week so far ,cant wait for the morning as i'm off to hopefully see Black Grouse lecking for the first time and fingers crossed i may get a few pics :-)
